Arc de Triomphe measures 49.5 meters high, 45 meters wide and 22 deep and is the second largest triumphal arch in the world existing. It's so big in the closing celebrations of War, a biplane pilot flying or under him.
The idea of building Arc appeared in 1806 after the victory at Austerlitz the Emperor Napoleon. Only took two years building foundation. During the Restoration, construction was stagnant and had to be completed than during the reign of King Louis Philippe.
Body of Emperor Napoleon was passed under the Arc on 15 December 1840 on the way to the second and his last resting place, Les Invalides. In the early 60s, the monument had become very dark due to coal soot and exhaust gases. Therefore the years 1965-1966 Arch has been cleaned with bleach.
For those who venture to enter the car in Paris is good to know that the cars that come under the Arch of Triumph have priority over those around him.
