Original place where God was worshiped Dionysus, god of wine and fertility, in dance and song in the fifth century, songs like Aeschylus, Sofocles, Euripides and Aristophanes were played here. The theater was built in mute stages, each contributing to the drama, in sec IV d. Ch being rebuilt with marble seats. What has been preserved until today dates back to Roman times and has a capacity of 17,000 spectators, initially placed in 64 rows of seats of which only 20 survived.
Theatre of Dionysus was divided into three major parts. Orchestra with a circular space where the action take place, scene elongated building where the actors changed that served as the background or scenery, and the audience where they were spectators.
Theatre of Dionysus can be visited every day between 8: 00-19: 00 summer and from 8: 30-18: 00 winter (except Mondays when it is closed)
