Meteora is located in the north-west of the Plain of Thessaly, near Kalambaka, river output pins Tessaliana plain beautiful and almost 300 m above the valley. As a physical phenomenon is unique worldwide. This formation has arisen due to a cone-shaped delta consists of river stones and mud flowing into the old lake Thessaly. On the set of the highest of the Meteora rocks, with an altitude of 613m, the monastery is the most representative of all the assembly, known as the Great Meteora, dedicated to the Transfiguration. The weathered red crown of a giant cliffs, sits the lowest hanging monastery of Meteora Mount, called St. Nicholas Anapafsas.

Large rocks over a very lonely steep rises Holy Trinity Monastery. It was founded in 1438 Dometie hermit. The church was built in 1476 and the interior fresco dating from 1741.
